Death Cafe

A death cafe, morbid as it sounds, provides an opportunity to talk about death and dying in a small group environment while drinking tea/coffee and eating cake. There are many death cafes happening both online and face to face all over the world. Click to learn more about the movement.

As a culture, we are often not comfortable at talking about death. I feel the purpose of the Death Cafe is ultimately to gain a deeper appreciation for life through listening to and talking about our experiences. The group will be facilitated and it is expected that attendees maintain the confidentiality of what is shared. The group can last between 1-1.5 hours depending on numbers and does not have a set agenda. Every group member is given an opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings as we go round the room.

It is not suitable for anyone actively grieving or looking for bereavement support. Click for Cruse Scotland website.
